"Casablanca" one of the greatest films ever made, was created amidst uncertainty and chaos. The story originated from Murray Burnett's trip to a nightclub in the South of France, inspiring the play "Everybody Comes to Rick's." Warner Bros. purchased the play after the attack on Pearl Harbor and turned it into a film. The screenplay retained many elements from the play, including memorable lines and pivotal scenes. Michael Curtiz was chosen as the director, while Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman were cast as the leads. Negotiations and casting changes led to Bergman ultimately joining the film.
